"Gender, Power, and Healthy Relationships"

Kolot College Time: Panel discussion on Gender, Power, and Healthy Relationships, featuring:
Nurit Schein, Executive Director of the Mazzoni Center (a health-care provider specifically for LGBT individuals), will speak about gender and power in relationships, including discussion of intimate power violence and gender in the gay community, and will detail the resources in the health and counseling community available to rabbis  when confronting these issues in their work. 
Frani Pollack, a licensed social worker and psychologist in private practice at Bala Child and Family Associates and who also teaches at Bryn Mawr School of Social Work and Penn Council for Relationships. She supervises students and regularly gives talks and conducts workshops on a variety of psychological themes. Bet Midrash

Ta'anit Esther/Fast of Esther observance, including text study. Nancy Lublin, founder of Dress for Success, is honored as Kolot's Queen Esther 2010/5770 for her initiatives in helping disadvantaged women acquire professional wardrobes and find employment. Tzedakah and gently worn attire will be collected. Bet Midrash

Text Study with Rabbi Vivie Mayer, Director, Mekhinah Year Program and Bet Midrash, and a presentation by Barbara Hirsh, Dean, Academic Administration and former President of Shalva, a Chicago agency addressing domestic violence in the Jewish community.
