Pat Barr was an extraordinary woman, whose life and work embodied the spirit of tikkun olam. She used to say that her parents instilled in her the value tzedek, tzedek tirdof – justice, justice you shall pursue, and in her many national, state and local leadership roles, she did just that.
Kolot appreciates the legacy of her example and her works. She created the K'vod Ha'em – Honoring a Mother or Foremother ceremony with Rabbi Fredi Cooper and Kolot director Lori Lefkovitz. This ceremony honors or memorializes a foremother. Pat established a fund in honor of her mother Marie to support Kolot internships, and the Pat Barr Fund, also established in Pat's lifetime, supports Kolot's programs and initiatives.
