Professor Tikva Frymer-Kensky, renowned feminist Bible scholar, taught at RRC from 1988 to 1994, serving as the chair of the Department of Biblical Civilization. Her publications included Reading the Women of the Bible; In the Wake of the Goddesses: Women, Culture and the Biblical Transformation of Pagan Myth, and Motherprayer: The Pregnant Woman's Spiritual Companion. Rabbi David Teutsch, who was RRC President during some of those years, remembers his colleague: "Tikva brought together a sophisticated approach to feminism, outstanding biblical scholarship based on immersion in ancient Near Eastern languages and cultures, and a profound commitment to Jewish tradition. Her creativity and passion inspired students, and her careful research and writing broke fresh intellectual ground. She cared deeply about her students, and was an active and committed member of the faculty. She challenged and nurtured everywhere she went. She was always willing to ask the hard question or confront an unspoken truth. Her presence at RRC brought vitality and credibility at a formative time in RRC's development."
In response to former students and colleagues, Kolot established the Tikva Frymer-Kensky Memorial Fund.
